    There was no "praying" for rain in Boston in 1948.
    The original "poem" as written by Gerald Hern in the Boston Post in September, 1948:


    First we'll use Spahn
    then we'll use Sain
    Then an off day
    followed by rain
    Back will come Spahn
    followed by Sain
    And followed
    we hope
    by two days of rain.

    I don't pray much, but I have a few times for the farmers in the South. Their livelihoods depend on that rain, and they are WAY behind. It impacts several people in my family and several friends of my family — most of them very good people.
