    I do wonder if there is a copy-cat phenomenon at work here, too.

    I mentioned that on the Seattle thread. Sure seems to be going that way. These people don't care about their lives, and they want to make some headlines on the way out. Sad, but it's really hard to fault the media for covering it. But it also seems that the more often it happens, the less breathless/wall-to-wall the coverage is.

    I felt old when I learned that students don't do the duck and cover thing for nukes anymore, instead they do the school lockdown drill.
