Marvin Miller's last chance

I didn't think that Miller would make it. I doubt if any executives on the committie supported him. I'm also skeptical that he would have had the full support of the players on the committie. When Miller was active the big name players generally weren't big supporters of the Players Association. The players who benefited the most from Marvin Miller's work probably don't even know who he is.

    Everything is political.

I guess . . . about three years of uncontrollable running sores would be opening just punishment for those who voted nay,.

Miller, Martin, and Steinbrenner all do not get in and Pat Gillick does.

I would like to know who was the one voter that couldn't vote for Miller. One bleeping vote shy.

I didn't think Steinbrenner would get in on the first go-round anyway. Martin's troubles off the field continues, in my eyes, an issue to these Cooperstown voters.

This sounds like a plot to a sequel to Amazing Grace and Chuck.

    Martin was a bum.

And the convict can wait . . . say, twenty years sounds about right. The last ten years was all
about putting lipstick on the pig.

When is the next time Miller can get in?

Next year, the Veterans Committee looks at The Golden Era with the pre-Intergration Era after that.

Do they go back to the Expansion Era after that?

Pat Gillick in the HoF? Now THAT's a travesty.

It's a disgrace. Say what you will about us writers' voting, we'd never pull weak shit like the countless incarnations of baseball's "insider" voting bodies have when it comes to the Hall. If it was up to them, Jackie Robinson wouldn't be in, either.
