    Yes, it is.

But last I checked, Warner isn't a borderline intellect who made his bones pandering to the
    redneck/quasi-racist GOP base in Virginia.

Thus, it's far less likely that Warner would have some "glib", politically-suicidal quip floating around near the top of his mind, primed to slip out at an inopportune moment.

Allen was the perfect GOP candidate for '08 in the minds of many party pros . . . yet another subpar hack they could manipulate.

    Thank God for small favors.

  2. Actually Novak was right in the Plame affair.
She really did work at the CIA.
Oh, and Ben, you gota give them PJ O'Rourke, too.

    I've given O'Rourke every chance.

He really needs to remove the pole that's inserted so deeply up his . . .

  4. He's a lot funnier than Hitchens, though.

The OLD O'Rourke, I might give some credence to . . . when he was surrounding himself with other legitimate talents.

    The current rendition, I can't use . . .

  6. This is a tough room.

As if you didn't know that.

Which gives Fredo another 14 months to drag the rest of the Republican party along with him down that sewer hole called Iraq.

I don't think a re-incarnated Miles Godwin, the phoenix of Virginia governors, could beat Mark Warner in 2008.

    What about Mark Farner?

  10. He's getting closer to his home...

    You're smarter than that, Lyman.

I wasn't endorsing everything that Novak has ever said, merely pointing out that predicting a bad showing for the Republicans in the next set of Senate elections doesn't cut across a particularly partisan divide.

You are correct that the elections are a long way away, and a lot can change between now and then.
