Mark Leary succumbs to cancer

    Hope I don't step on toes here (something I've been known to do) but if you had problems in the past with Mark, please allow me to say this. Mark's priorities were NEVER to win popularity contests. He COULD be tough...even gruff, but made almost everybody he knew a better journalist. He didn't believe in coddling or being soft, and while that turned some people off, when they thought about it later they realized that Mark was doing the best thing for whatever paper he was at....but MORE to the point, he was doing the best thing for the writer/editor. All management in newspapers, not to mention non-management, should follow his example.
