Yeah, that's the same rule that got Steve Alford suspended back in the day for posing for a charity calendar for some campus organization.

So basically, the only difference will be, instead of sitting the second half against Rice, he'll be sitting the first half... :D

Texas State has to be shitting its pants right now.

And I'm wondering if the NCAA is either just giving up because they think they'll get slammed in the O'Bannon lawsuit, or if they're just trying to make this go away because they're sick of the bad publicity and they don't want the debate over memorabilia money to keep going.

OK, now I realize Rice didn't really play anybody last year, but it did win six of its last seven including a bowl game against Air Force and has something like all but three people from last year's two-deep back.

Is it possible that all this shit is enough of a distraction for A&M that Rice can make a game out of it?

So if A&M wins the toss on Saturday, I guess they'll defer?

So getting paid five figures for autographs is only 5% as bad as eating lunch with Deion Sanders.

    Got it.

Except that the NCAA has no proof Manziel took five figures for autographs - even though everybody knows he did.

And Bryant got suspended for lying, not for having dinner with Deion.

But infinitely worse than whatever it is that Cam Newton did.

My gut feeling is A&M pushed for resolution but the NCAA would have liked to dawdle with the "investigation" a bit longer, at least past the Alabama game, to see if Manziel would stay in the Heisman race. Then if he dropped out, they could come down hard.

Then again, considering what Cam Newton and Auburn got away with, at least they were able to get to punish Johnny Football for 30 whole minutes...

Heck, water from a hose is worth $20. A half of football is worth five-figures.
