Manson follower Van Houten denied parole .. again

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Jul 7, 2010.

  1. Van Houten seems to be the one Manson family member who had/has a shot a parole. She was denied for the 19th time yesterday.

    Is she related to Millhouse?

If they parole her, she'll end up like Brooksie.

In three years, she'll be denied for a 20th time.

If only she had some flood pants, at least something would come up her way.

I have a Facebook friend who registered her outrage at this denial in a status update, saying that she's served her time and that 40 years in jail has reformed her.

Ok, fine, but if she's now had three trials and applied for parole 19 times, how does that speak to someone who has come to terms with what she did, as opposed to someone who has been desperate to get out of jail since pretty much the day she got in jail and tried every legal trick she can dream up to try and achieve that goal?

California also doesn't have the death penalty anymore. So when they put someone in prison for life, they're serious about it.

Wasn't Tookie Williams executed a couple of years ago, or was the no death penalty a recent thing?

California definitely still has the death penalty, but they have so many people on death row and the appeals process is so backlogged that you really have to try to get yourself executed anymore.

California abolished the death penalty in 1972, which reduced the Manson family sentences to life in prison from the death penalty.

When California reinstated the death penalty, Manson and the rest had the good fortune of not having the death penalty made retroactive.
