Sounds like he’s on his way out the door and speaking out.

His ratios are something to behold. But that's also standard for him. As long as he's getting the clicks (or, given his behavior with sources, holding something over his bosses), he'll stay employed.

He probably made the financial calculation that he had to get out of there and get a new job before exposing any of it. And remember, we don't know everything that went on behind the scenes. The NYDN might have promised Charles one thing when they hired him, and later decided when Manish lost his credentials that he had to do this ghostwriting b.s. Maybe they lied to him and said this will just be for a week or two till they figure out something better long-term. Or maybe they didn't even tell him the first time he went to Jets practice that his observations would be printed under Manish's name and stupid photo.

In the meantime, there is no reason on earth for the NYDN to keep this guy (or the editor!) employed. Yet Erika Esola, the one who was revealing most of these details on Twitter, said she's heard their sports dept had an emergency meeting and the takeaway was they aim to get Manish's credentials back. What a world. Too bad there aren't dozens of unemployed sports journalists who'd do a better job than Manish was doing anyway.

So, is this worse than plagiarism?

This is like the Rick Bragg scandal. At least Bragg had the good taste to resign.

He didn’t tweet during the Jets game today.

Hopefully that's a good omen for some news this week.

He has not tweeted since Nov. 28 - unless he did some housekeeping

Oh that's interesting. Wondering if he's on a suspension of some kind. Surprised something hasn't leaked out by now regarding his status.

Still nothing from Manish, but here’s today’s Jets preview.

Update: It appears Mehta is no longer active. You'd think someone would have reached out to the NYDN for comment by now.
