This is an outstanding cover to an admittedly catchy song. Moore captures the essence of the melodies. Very well done. The more I see of Mandy Moore, the more her stock rises in my book. She can sing and is adding a pretty good film and TV career.

    "I'm not a big Top 40 listener."

WTF? So she doesn't listen to her own crap? Sorry, CI, nothing personal, but as mentioned on another thread recently, I loathe Mandy Moore. I think she seems completely made up.

I want to see her in rehab and with two trailer trash kids.

Hey, man, nothing personal taken. To each their own.

Now I see why Rihanna has to dress up like a dominatrix in her video. That song is BORING.

Like someone on that post said, this girl and her guitar sitting in front of her couch kicks both Mandy Moore's and Rihanna's asses:

I have never heard of Rihanna nor heard this "Umbrella" song. I only know of Mandy Moore from her guest stint on Scrubs.

The girl songwriter there has a great voice, but her phrasing on the chorus bothers me.

How so? It sounds exactly like Rihanna's version to me.

I agree, except for the part about her voice.

The whole "ella, ella, ella" repeat thing is meant to sound like an echo, which it doesn't if you pronounce it "Um-brel-la" instead of "Um-br-ella," as Mandy did. And yes, let's hope that this is the low point of my day.
