    Managing Editor, Team Content - Minnesota Wild (St. Paul, MN)

    Position Summary This position is responsible for providing the primary day-to-day content for wild.com while also serving as managing editor for all team-related content for the Web site and Wild publications. This role is also instrumental in seeking out and writing new stories from around the State of Hockey to include on the site.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide editorial direction and bulk of team-related content primarily for wild.com including feature stories, video, photos, podcasts and fan polls among others also including team publications
    • Provide daily entries about practices, games, roster moves, trade possibilities, Houston Aeros, and all other matters relating to the daily developments of the team while closely following the hockey operations department
    • Manage freelance budget and hire freelance writers for editorial content to be used for the team site and in publications
    • Work closely with the Media Relations department to ensure all press releases and other team materials are posted and updated efficiently
    • Develop strong working relationships with players, broadcasters, hockey operations, and communications staff
    • Direct and manage team-and hockey-related video production from Website Content Coordinator
    • Assist as needed with editing, writing and layout of team publications including the team media guide, yearbook and game night program
    • Pitch wild.com content to NHL and other sports web sites (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, etc.) for inclusion of linked content
    • Seek out stories from around the State of Hockey for inclusion on wild.com
    • Assist in concepting for potential stateofhockey.com site
    • Some travel required to cover the team on the road
    • Other assignments or duties as assigned


    Skills and Qualifications Required

    • 4-year college degree required with preferred emphasis in journalism
    • Strong writing background required; professional sports journalism experience preferred
    • Experience working with CMS (Content Management System) and HTML required with proficiency using both applications; Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) also preferred
    • Excellent time management skills with ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a results and team-oriented environment
    • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Consistently models key MSE behavioral characteristics including passion, excellence and teamwork
    • Willingness and flexibility to work extended or unusual hours including weekends and holidays as needed; previous work experience in sports or extended hours environment a plus
    • Ability to travel 30-50% on selected road trips
