    The NFL Media Group is seeking an experienced digital media journalist to join its expanding multi-platform news operation in Culver City, CA. Reporting to the News Editor, NFL Media Group, the Managing Editor, Digital News, is a senior newsroom leader with high editorial standards and deep experience successfully using data-driven techniques to increase digital media user engagement.

    Responsibilities

    - Hands-on management of the NFL.com editorial staff, including daily hires and contractors, with an emphasis on covering “breaking news” and League events, along with current and future Digital Media (DM) content priorities.
    - Work across the NFL Media Group to ensure coordinated and consistent news coverage on all platforms, with a particular emphasis on timely and accurate reporting of “breaking news.”
    - Maintain communication with television news production staff, particularly on “breaking news,” so that the two platforms are reporting the same, accurate information.
    - Integrate social media into all aspects of news and feature coverage including the management of writers and TV analysts’ presence in social media.
    - Develop and execute content strategies, particularly centered on “breaking news” as a means to drive traffic and increase engagement to all DM properties.
    - Manage an aggressive, metrics driven approach to programming of the headline news stack and news section of NFL.com to drive traffic and increase user engagement.
    - Work with Business Intelligence & Optimization and User Acquisition & Engagement teams to optimize data presentation/reporting to drive KPIs.
    - Contribute content ideas to daily and weekly editorial meetings.
    - Manage the Digital Media budget for original written content.
    - Work with the News Editor to identify and recruit writing and editing talent.
    - Ensure all content is consistent with NFL.com editorial policies.
    Skills/Qualifications
    - 8+ years digital news experience, preferably in sports journalism
    - At least 5 years management experience in digital media, with an emphasis on managing writers, editors and content flow
    - Deep knowledge of the NFL and a proven ability to make sound editorial decisions based on that knowledge
    - Extensive experience leveraging data to influence editorial strategy and tactics
    - Deep understanding of social media’s role in and impact upon news reporting
    - Strong written and verbal communication skills
    - Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
    - Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
    - B.A. in journalism or a similar field
    - Strong computer skills
    - A strategic thinker who can effectively make the case for taking calculated risks.
    - Data-driven individual who makes decisions based on empirical evidence and can persuade others to do the same.
    - Desire and ability to innovate and adapt.
