    Summary: Seeking an individual with strong media relations and writing skills. Responsible for creating and executing a public relations plan that builds awareness of the team and supports the ticket sales/sponsorship initiatives of the WNBA Tulsa franchise. Will work with local/national print and broadcast media to generate coverage throughout the year and oversee game-night PR services and staffing. In addition, this person will be responsible for the development and posting of all content on the team’s website.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Develop and execute a year-round public relations plan that provides positive media coverage of players, coaches, management and all overall business initiatives including ticket sales and sponsorship
    • Develop a year-round content plan for the team’s website that supports the basketball (players, coaches) and business initiatives (ticket sales, sponsorships, game presentation, CR). Write, create and post all content.
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key media and influencers and respond swiftly to all media requests
    • Serve as the day-to-day contact with media on all WNBA Tulsa basketball issues
    • Serve as the primary contact for media at all home & select away games, practices and various events
    • Develop and pitch feature stories. Coordinate all interviews
    • Write and edit press releases, game notes, media guides and other publications
    • Assist with writing and editing various email newsletters and web material as needed
    • Coordinate press conferences for major announcements
    • Oversee all game-night media relations staffing, set-up and services
    • Manage player/coach interaction with media, including media training and speaking points as appropriate
    • Assist in securing speaking opportunities for the coach, players and management, and provide them with speaking points as appropriate
    • Work with WNBA Communications Department as necessary in regards to storylines, statistics, national media requests, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education and/or Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, PR, Journalism or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years PR/Media Relations experience
    • Excellent communications skills: Oral, written and presentation
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and organizational skills
    • Sharp attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines and budget
    • Self starter
    • Ability to manage others
    • Strong interpersonal skills and team player
    • Passion for and basic knowledge of women’s basketball
    • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and at times travel with the team

    Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Lotus-Notes.
