    Primary Purpose:
    The purpose of this position is to increase the visibility and enhance the image of the organization through valuable, effective and strategic communication efforts by securing pro-active publicity and using social media.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1.Secure strategic news coverage about the organization’s business relations with corporate partners, philanthropy in the community, high-profile promotions and off-field stories about players in entertainment and lifestyle mediums.
    2.Write and distribute press releases and media advisories and have the ability to prep executives and players for interviews.
    3.Develop and manage social media communication initiatives, including interaction with public via Facebook, Twitter, blogs and online chats.
    4.Establish and maintain relationships with key media outlets and contacts.
    5.Work with other departments to ensure consistency and quality throughout the organization’s communications efforts.
    6.Track department expenditures and manage Communications budget.
    7.Maintain accurate database of media contacts and track earned media coverage.
    8.Assist Vice President, Communications with crisis communications efforts.


    Qualifications:
    •Knowledge of AP Style and various news writing styles including the ability to write press releases, TV and radio scripts, magazine and newspaper copy, and publicity plans
    •Strong written and oral communications skills
    •Previous use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to drive publicity for other businesses
    •Self-motivator with the ability to work independently
    •Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
    •Travel outside of the office occasionally
    •Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
