    Summary:
    • Responsible for media relations and public communications for the Edmonton Oilers Family Brands
    • The Manager, Communications is a full-time position

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Media Relations
    o Managing media accreditation process
    o Coordinating and scheduling of media interview requests
    o Creating all news releases
    o Content and production management of all publications
    o Preparing and executing all news conferences
    o Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with local sports media

    • Corporate Communications
    o Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with local non-sports media
    o Generating opportunities to publicize key brand messages through un-paid media
    o Developing and communicating stories lines about teams and players that will be attractive to local media

    • Customer Communications
    o Managing and growing e-communication databases
    o Creating regular newsletters
    o Managing electronic distribution of messages to customers

    • Game Night
    o Preparing media Game Notes
    o Managing game night Media Lounge
    o Managing game night Press Box
    o Managing post-game media requests
    o Liaising with off-ice/off-field officials
    o Filing of game information with league offices

    • Website
    o Managing club websites
    o Creating all content, including feature stories, graphics, photo galleries and audio and video

    • Publications
    o Creating and managing content for game day program
    o Managing relationship with printer

    • Photography
    o Managing clubs’ photographic needs

    • Broadcast
    o Serving as liaison for all radio and television broadcast requirements
    o Providing key sales messages to broadcast team nightly

    • Player Relations
    o Assisting in fulfillment of player appearances at fan and community events

    • League Relations
    o Fulfilling all media-related requests of the GBL and WHL

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Game night statistical staff

    Ideal Qualifications:
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent creative writing abilities
    • Exceptional organization skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Passion for the sports and entertainment industry
    • Ability to work games and irregular hours
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

    Education and Experience:
    • Post secondary degree with emphasis on communications preferred
    • Minimum two years experience in professional communications role
    • Experience dealing with or working in media

    The coldest I've ever been in my life was covering the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton in November. Indoor rodeo, but a nice long walk from the parking area to the arena.

    Could be a nice job, but bring your heavy coat.

    Anyone know if it's the WHL Oil Kings or the new AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City?
