"Mallrats" is horrible

I thought it had a few decent moments, among them a topless Joey Lauren Adams.

It almost did. He got a big budget for this one after Clerks did so well. After Mallrats, he had to go back to a tiny budget to get Chasing Amy made.

It's not a great film, but it definitely isn't horrible either. And the dialogue is exactly like Clerks and other Smith movies. It's an amusing farce, but Smith has done much better work in the past.

Zach and Miri Make a Porno is going to be huge.

It's certainly not the best of his movies (Chasing Amy, Clerks, Clerk 2 and Dogma, in that order, are all better), but it's the first of his films I saw and I love it.
If you can't see the humor in stink palm, Brody going potty mouth on the TV show, Brody freaking out about the third nipple, Brody carrying around that dixie cup (fill this with Coke, no ice), anything Brody says throughout the film (You two are retarded for each other! I'd hate to tell you what I think about in the bathroom, etc.), or anything Brody does, then you simply have no sense of humor.

And as far as I'm concerned, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was much, much worse. It's way too slapstick for my taste and has too much Jay, who is such a one-note joke.

Totally agree. If you don't like the game show scene, you don't have a sense of humor.

I thought this movie was pretty funny, though I saw it when I was 11 or so.

I saw Clerks and thought it was unfunny crap; Two douche bags trying to play hockey on top of store with cast of zany characters.
Chasing Amy, which I saw after Mallrats, was meeh.
Loved Mallrats. My favorite of the Kevin Smith moives. ALL of them.
Not a huge Smith fan, but Mallrats was his best.

No one talks like Smith's pinheads, yet somehow he has a "great ear for dialogue."
