    People imagine a huge rogue wave crossing the ocean, but the deceptively small wave is common once you're far enough from shore. When people have enough warning, they'll take out their boats.

    We lived in Hawai'i when what ended up being a few-inches tsunami hit. Lots of warning, because the triggering quake was near Japan. The fleet evacuated Pearl. That's an impressive sight.

    Friend who is a missionary in the Phillipines reports via Facebook "all is well in Angeles City."

    Angeles City is too far inland to be affected (says someone whose parents were stationed near Angeles for three-plus years).
