We're talking about basketball recruiting in the state of Kentucky. The only thing about it that surprises me is the sheer stupidity of using an escort service.

If you are a recruit - do you want to go somewhere where someone has to get paid to have sex with you?

Just part of the transition from amateur to pro status. Anyone athlete can get a blow job from a Tri-Delt pledge, but if you want to make it in the Association you're going to have to learn to handle two pros from Vegas and still make the team meeting

 

Evidently the co-author is a Pulitzer Prize winner. It will be interesting to see how much corroborative evidence is provided. If they can document a money trail to the school Pandora's box will open.

And,seriously, this is why college athletes should get paid. If you try to maintain an artificial price ceiling on employee wages, which the NCAA prohibition on salaries is, competition within the marketplace will still take place, just in other ways. It can be the number of sorority girls asc hool can offer up to a recruit or over the top practice facilities.

A kid talented enough to play at Louisville can command at least six figures on the open market. Pay him the money and let him pay for his own hookers or whatever.

 

The major problem with that is these paid student-athletes (haha, LOL) represent your school and its marketing brand. Give 18-22 year old kids six figures, and how many more really bad, embarrassing decisions will they make?

 

Could be a clear case of lack of prostitutional control... ba da bum...

But, yeah, as usual, the big unanswered question is the money source. Apparently a basketball department staffer was arranging the hooker handouts, but I'm sure the payments weren't coming from his own pocket.
