Betty's a lightweight, but so long as she was determined to be disappointed
in not receiving the one thing she apparently wanted from Don -- a square
shuffle -- she was bound to be unhappy.

The field is now wide open for Don to take a run at his absolute counterpart
in the cast (no, NOT Peggy), should he choose to do so. Doubt he will,
but it will be damn interesting if he does.

Quick-hit interview with Weiner and the cast:

Funny ... I like Don, especially knowing what we do about his past. Pete I would cheerfully kill with my bare hands. Cannot stand him in the slightest.

Pete's primed to come out as the most liberal of the male bunch as we head into Hippydippyland. Wouldn't be surprised to see his hair be the longest of the bunch, upon reappearance. He's oh, so calculating, but he's got talent.

Yeah, I can see Pete going a little Mod in Season 4. Season 3 ended with the Kennedy assassination, which, remember, was only 3 months before The Beatles invaded America.

Don and Joan would be perfect...too perfect. Don't dip your pen in the company inkwell.

You KNOW Mr. Joan is going to get shipped to Nam and not come back.

    Wide. Open.

I've read that this season will begin in late 1964, so we could be skipping the Beatles, LBJ-Goldwater and the like and moving into 1965. It makes sense given Weiner's hopes of wrapping up the show in just a few few more seasons.

I don't know how this show ends up working if it makes it to the end of the decade, though. Wouldn't Don just age and curmudgeonly dismiss the entire era? Wouldn't that just take the starch out of the character?

That won't happen. If someone goes all hippy it's going to be one of the creatives. Account executives aren't creatives. Pete's an account executive. So we're limiting it to writers, art directors, and creative directors.

Kinsey, Sal, Don, Peggy... I dunno maybe the two goofy foreign guys.

I feel like they both know better than to let that happen.

On the other hand, it would be the ultimate revenge against Roger.
