Just an understanding of the language would make me happy.
I make allowances for the spoken word, but, to paraphrase Pound, just because it 'goes' on ESPN doesn't mean it goes in writing.
Subject-noun agreement - if that confuses you, don't write complex (or even compound) sentences.
Parts of speech - Adverb, adjective, noun, verb - all are clear upon usage. If you didn't understand what an adverb was when you were 14, why did you choose the English lanuage as your tool box?
Journalistic hyphenation - if you can barely recognize 'modifier' as a term or sentence situation, and you cannot discern the difference between 'meaty-pawed handling' and 'very hands-on handling' - please stop.
Parallel construction - The most common problem I see with otherwise 'good' writers.
(I'm drunk, so I can't stand behind the typing of this, but I endorse the message of this message.)

I cannot stand the continued overuse and misuse of the word "myself."

I just wanted to get that on the table.

    Thanks

"I texted her/him" drives me fucking nuts.

    Real, it does.

Well, if we're talking about what makes us grit our teeth ...

If I see "second-straight victory" in copy one more time, I'm going to take a pica rule to some typing fingers.

NO REASON for "second straight" to be hyphenated. NONE.

I'm pretty sure she's the president of the club.
