"-ly" and the continuing death throes of the English language

Don't normally consider myself as very much of a grammar nazi, but this one's been bugging the shit out of me lately.

    Overheard in the past week:
    • Several references on TV/radio of someone "not taking things personal."
    • Football analyst crowing that an injured player needed to "get off the field quick."
    • Ripken Jr. on Dan Patrick show today, hyping "Teen Driving Safety Week" by noting that everyone "should drive responsible."

    AAAAAARGH!

WTF is happening to those quite necessary two letters "ly"? You do or do not take things personalLY. Dude must get off the field quickLY. Drive responsibLY.

Jesus. Will the bastardization of the English language never end? Yes, I need to get a life, but I've just been noticing an increase of this annoying trend lately. Egads.

And just as annoying to me is when people hyphenate an -ly word.

The thing I hate is when someone says "in regards to"

Damnit, read the AP stylebook and you'd know these things.

I love when people don't get it.

    Real.
