As one of the four people in his high school coach's office the day he signed with LSU and made the Heisman comments, I can say that story is like the fish story that gets better every time it's told. Four? Sorry, but no.

I'm not even going to get into the full story about the "quotes" that first ran on USA Today's Web site that day and why they were later pulled (after the paper realized there were credibility issues with the supposed timing of the alleged quotes).

But yeah, the kid was quite cocky that day -- but oddly likeable for someone who was writing a check even his considerable abilities could never cash.

I've always felt Perrilloux was a good kid, who has always hung around a bad crowd. Got to know him a little back when he was just a sophomore when I was covering a game down at ESJ and spent the day catching up with Dauterive.

I think somewhere along the way, he started to buy into his own press and started believing what the people were whispering in his ears. Talked to Dauterive today and he said he's worried that Perrilloux doesn't realize what he's throwing away by being a knucklehead.

Yeah, there was a sadness in Dauterive's voice I'd never heard before.

LSU Football Coach Les Miles says he has lifted the suspension for
Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux. (WWL-Radio - The Big 870)

WWL.com columnist Jeff Palermo reports that Coach Miles has put Perrilloux
back on the team after 3rd suspension for violating team rules.
Miles says it looks like the QB has his act together. "The things that I
    hear, most... are very positive."

However, Miles says Perrilloux won't actually get on the practice field
just yet. "I just want to make sure he is doing his work in the classroom
and takes care of his business."

The coach expects Perrilloux will be on the field soon.
105.3 WWL FM and WWL.com will carry Les Miles news conference LIVE around
    noon today.

Gee, I wonder if letting him back on the team had anything to do with Miles' evaluation of the quarterback position without Perrilloux.

Wonder how this decision will sit with some of the high-profile boosters.

If they get back to a BCS title game I don't think they'll give a shit.

Have to agree with rube on this one, and that's pretty much the same for boosters at a lot of big-time programs.

The high-profile boosters could care less about who leads them to victory...as long as they are led to victory.

And when he's suspended, again, during the season, will they care less?

My point is that the guy has already messed up four times (going back to a counterfeiting scandal he was allegedly involved). He's proven to be not very trustworthy and he's proven to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. What happens when that wrong place and wrong time comes when LSU needs him most? It didn't matter last year, because they have Flynn. It's obvious they need Perrilloux, otherwise Miles wouldn't give him a fourth chance.

I know that if I were an LSU fan, I wouldn't be happy with Perrilloux being back on the team. Then again, I'm not a win at all costs kind of person.
