Love the artist, hate the song

Ultimate example for me: "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam

Others: "Fields of Gold" -- Sting (I liked his solo stuff until this point, plus dug the Police of course)
"The Long and Winding Road" -- The Beatles (well, really McCartney butchered by Phil Spector)
"Mother" -- Pink Floyd (long, boring acoustic number about how Roger hates his mum. Actually, quite a few clunkers on "The Wall")
"Beth" -- KISS (sorry, I was too young to cop a feel during this song at a junior high dance in the 1970s)
"The Flame" -- Cheap Trick (no explanation necessary)

I guess the theme here is they're all songs that aren't representative of the performer's best work, yet they became huge hits and were overplayed like crazy on the radio.

    REM - Stand
U2 - With or Without You
Talking Heads - And She Was
    Rolling Stones - Angie
    Beatles - Michelle
    The Who - Magic Bus
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

This would probably be my Who pick, even though there's some total dreck on Tommy ("Acid Queen", I'm looking in your direction).

The Beatles - "Drive My Car" . It's always bugged me, I can't explain why.
"Run For Your Life". Lennon at his creepiest.

Led Zeppelin - "Since I've Been Loving You". Snore inducing.

The Stones - "Brown Sugar". Overplayed, the whole slavery thing.

Bob Dylan - "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35". Blech.

The Clash - Almost all of Sandinista.

Did we grow up in the same house? You suck! :D

I like Drive My Car and I like Run For Your Life, that song kinda rocks and it's nice departure lyrically for the Beatles.

Since I've Been Loving You isn't my favorite Led Zep blues either, but it has a good guitar solo.

Brown Sugar is definitely overplayed, but like It's Only Rock 'n Roll and Miss You, it's a good song. The alternate version (with slide guitar) is better and it kicks ass live.

I'm with you on Rainy Day Women. I have Sandinista. It's definitely hit-and-miss -- and after London Calling when The Clash missed, they could be awful -- but there's good shit too. Believe it or not, Magnificent Seven -- a song I used to hate -- has grown on me.

Dave Matthews Band -- The Space Between

Wilco -- Impossible Germany (not really hate, but I'm not sure why so many people think it's one of their best songs. Everyone screams for it at concerts. Might not crack my top 20 Wilco songs.)

    Pearl Jam -- Evenflow

Bruce -- Hungry Heart (of course)

Rush -- Their Summertime Blues covers on live albums. Ugh.

Jagger/Bowie -- Dancing in the Streets

The best part of Evenflow at concerts is listening to hear when Eddie will fuck the words up... Because he will. Every time.

It's the only song on Ten that I regularly skip.
