OK, so I've started a new relationship with someone I met on another message board. I've managed to avoid the whole Internet dating thing up to now. We've already done the scary picture exchange and spent hours a day on the phone. The big meet is scheduled in two weeks in a neutral city. (We live in different regions of the country). Anybody done this sort of thing? Any advice to offer? Tips? Comments?

No. But discussing Mitch Albom only led to anger issues.

And that's the reason I turned my ballot in on time each week ... Didn't want to make him any angrier.

Hmm. There are only about 10 women on this site I know who aren't in a relationship, so which one is it?

Don't lie and claim it was another site.

    'Fess up.

Seriously, it was another site. And what makes you think I'm not a woman?

She didn't tell me to, but I know I should on my own.

Get all your affairs in order, in case he/she is psychotic and feeds you into a wood chipper.

Actually said something along those lines to my best friend from back home when he went off to the middle of nowhere to meet a girl he'd met online...in 1996, way back when this seemed like a REALLY weird way to meet someone. Turns out her friends said the same thing to her about his possible psychosis.

He came home--alive, even--and said he was going to marry her. And he did, 20 months later.

    No wood chippers yet, either!

    Don't play games. Be yourself.

Even if the relationship works out, you'll have to let him/her know who you really are (a big fucking dork) at some point. Might as well do it from the beginning.
