I love it when people respond to a PFTC story/post with "Does he realize...?"

    It's the best.

The figure varies somewhat depending how effective a "feeder program" the kids sports team is, but even up to high school JV, pretty much half the players on any given team are never going to play the sport again on a "formal" level.

The kids sports superstars know who they are; they get plenty of ribbons and trophies and certificates. And they're the ones who will be playing in three or five or seven years.

But every team needs that 50 percent of the kids who won't be playing in five years. And in 10 or 20 or 30 years, they'll go through some old shoebox and find the ribbon they got for playing on the Burger King 12-under team in 1987, and they'll remember the triple they had in that game against Don's Drive-In and the Slurpees everybody got to drink afterward and how cold they were on that hot dusty baseball diamond.

If it fuckin bends James Harrison's dick out of shape to give the 50 percent of the players on his kids' teams a ribbon or medal or dinky plastic trophy worth two bucks just to say "thanks for being on the team," that's just tough shit.

The black eye James Harrison's girlfriend got was just a participation trophy for saying "no" to him.

Didn't he also get, like, 200,000 trophies for participating in illegal hits?

James Harrison, great at protecting his kids from the horrors of participation trophies, less great at protecting them from his pit bulls.

The family-values crowd is loving Harrison's rant. I'm guessing they're ignorant regarding Harrison's domestic behavior or having kids out of wedlock.
