The cowardly Handel mocks those who oppose this decision in a tweet, then deletes it:

    Yep, what a shock.

People need to mind their own goddamn business.

A big group of my friends donated in memory of Susan G. Komen.

At least one of my friends who does the walk every year is dropping out. No word yet from the friend who does the walk in three cities. It will be interesting to see if she has trouble raising money.

Am I missing something there? I see Handel's face, but a Tweet from a completely different name.

She retweeted someone else's tweet that told everyone who disliked the decision to "cry me a river." I believe the other screecher deleted it, then went on a tirade on Twitter last night against everyone calling her nuts.

Komen lost its top public health official over this:

--Worth noting in the expanded political sphere that Cliff Stearns, the congressman who concocted this "investigation," is also the one pushing the Solyndra case. Certainly casts some doubt on the validity of that quest.

--NYTimes had a pretty good writeup on Komen/PP -- the Connecticut branch posted on its web site about "frustration" with the decision, and two PP branches in California got funding late last year presumably because they got a heads-up that this policy change was coming and expedited their grant applications.

Story also suggests that Catholic and other religious groups may look more kindly on Komen now. I don't see it, to be honest, at least not nearly to a degree that will make up for lost donations.

--Will be interesting to see if MLB continues with the pink bats on Mother's Day. Probably the biggest corporate event for the Komen Foundation, but leagues don't typically like to court controversy in their charity work.

I am curious as to how/when PP got into breast cancer screening. That seems like a pretty hefty dose of mission creep to me. Because the Komen Foundation's really a one-trick pony (as I understand it), I am surprised it ever contributed to PP.

This religious nut's efforts to keep money away from Planned Parenthood results in an extra $250K for PP from Michael Bloomberg:

It looks like they handled this poorly, but I would think they were trying to avoid political controversy, not court it.

Planned Parenthood is a lighting rod for 50% of the country. The probably should have avoided it from the start.

But, once having been involved with it, they really did need to handle this better.
