Looks like we're not the only ones who think WWL is full of it

I don't think anybody blasts ESPN for that stuff. Everybody knows it's filler. And I think most people miss the old ESPN days when you could find Aussie Rules Football on live at 3 a.m.

Maybe "blasts" was too strong a word. But they are teased about it, kind of like the way you look at your old high school yearbook and wonder how genie pants and Z. Cavarriccis were ever cool. Obviously, it's something they've tried to get away from -- as evidenced by their greenlighting Cheap Seats.

Don't know that you can say its ESPN's "fault" as they can hype whatever sport they want. But its true that hockey's problems go beyond mere lack of interest, instead its almost become trendy (or "Now" as ESPN's hacks would put it) to abuse and ridicule hockey as a virtual non-sport these days. People who follow the NHL now seem almost apologetic and have to and endure cracks whenever they try to bring the sport into mainstream discussion.

No doubt ESPN's had a large role in creating that perception. It's not just that the young don't watch it anymore, they're also hearing guys like Simmons and Greenberg tell em its something to be ridiculed as well.

It's not that ESPN has failed in every regard...but their mistakes seem more egregious because they're like huge zits begging to be popped. If they had a great product in SportsCenter but showed stuff like celebrity skeet shooting, that aspect would be more forgivable. Wide World of Sports was great not because of the Iditarod coverage, but because it was a quality product at its core.

SportsCenter seems to have lost much of that, and as a result, all the other faults seem that much worse.

True, but we never got a pure 10-12 hours of NBA draft coverage on Sportscenter in the past either.

Gotta love this live from the Sent...

    3. Stuart Scott: Hugs and hand pounds? Hardly. Boo-yah? Just boo. The North Carolina graduate, who is about as street as Sesame, certainly seems to consider himself to be cooler than the other side of the pillow. Hey, we have a use for that pillow.

I know that ESPN is building a West Coast base across from Staples Center so does this mean we'll soon get the Kobe Bryant Chronicles? The Tom Lasorda Show? Who's Now -- L.A. Dodgers vs. L.A. Angels of Anaheim? or Outside the Lines: Does Los Angeles want the NFL back?

Actually, this will give them a chance to be in bed with Beckham.
