The day that dog died was the most traumatic day of my life up to that point. Thanks for bringing it back up. Guess I'll go drown my sorrows in Mountain Dew again.

Let me guess: You weren't a Gil Thorp fan either, were you?

I still remember the insane uproar when that strip announced it had a gay character.

There's conspiracy theories that the guy who does Frazz is Watterson?

Oh, and the Cleveland Scene tried this a few years ago ... and interviewed Mallet right off the bat.

Agree fully. Those strips in his books still make me howl.

Agree with the top 4. But, on this board, no one has love for the old Tank McNamara strips?

Loving this thread, and I must chime in with my full agreement on these two (four?) posts in particular:

    :)

To me, Tank McNamara is like the movie you loved as a kid that you bought on DVD as an adult, only to find out 10 minutes in that it was borderline unwatchable. Tank was a bit entertaining 25 years ago, but any time I find it these days, it makes me cringe.

I don't think I've read the comics regularly since Bloom County disappeared, though I enjoy Bizarro, Nancy (because it's so utterly stupid), and Family Circus (to participate in the time-honored tradition of making it into something lewd).

Used to like Shoe too ... another sportswriter from the comic world.

Had the same thought the other morning as I was sitting down to a bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.
