The Southeast Missourian is looking for a motivated sports writer to handle our high school sports beat, with the potential to contribute to Division I college coverage as well.

Come join our award-winning four-person sports staff if this sounds like you:

    • Polished writer
    • Proven on tight deadlines
    • Equally proficient at writing an efficient game story or crafting a fascinating feature
    • A self-starter who can generate ideas and find enterprise stories
    • Understands the importance of both print and digital content
    • Layout skills and experience (some page design will be required)
Candidates must have a degree in journalism or equivalent experience.

The Southeast Missourian is a daily newspaper that prints six days a week out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Our sports coverage features 18 high schools as well as Southeast Missouri State, a Division I athletics program. We are also the mothership of Semoball.com, our online sports home that coordinates with other area newspapers to provide coverage to 57 high schools in Southeast Missouri and produces the annual Semoball Awards show.

If interested, send a cover letter, resume and 3-5 samples of your work to Sports Editor Josh Mlot at jmlot@semissourian.com.
