Didn't Selena Roberts exploit and condemn the Duke lacrosse team?

Since it likely was not set up in trust she must have had one hell of a tax bill.

If you're making $400k a year, a sudden appearance of money in the (presumably) low 7-figures is not necessarily life changing -- particularly if you're splitting it with your brother.

If it's an inheritance, I believe the first $5 million is not taxed, but I'm not 1000 percent on that.

400 large per year at SI? What did that work out per byline? About $50,000 per?

Don't know Selena. But why would anyone, at this point, assume any conversation with Deadspin is off the record?

    What he said.

    AND...

A strange-sounding website that will feature sports-related short films because, in her words, it's what "ESPN and the sports networks don't do."

What about Grantland and those kind of awesome 30-for-30 shorts?

This is the first time I've heard of somebody inheriting money and felt genuinely sorry for that person because of what might happen to the money.

I watched one and hated it even more than I hate 30 for 30.

Then roopstigo might be your answer, Vers.

I meant Roopstigo. That's where I watched one. The documentary on Morganna, actually. It was hackneyed, too long and overly sentimental and made terrible musical choices.

Oh dear. That could've used some cuts.

Documentary filmmaking... Not as easy as it seems.
