To answer the question about mystery shopping... Yes it is quite real and there are TONS of companies that are legit. Check out volition.com for a list. I have enrolled with the companies through C right now. I plan on sitting down and doing the rest.

Some of the companies have more opportunities than other. And you have to be willing to check the boards and your email frequently to get assignments. My suggestion is to get at least Silver Certified from the MSPA (mspa.org). They also list opportunities there as well. Plus, there are assignments to do some merchandising and theater checks as well.

It's hard to get into at first, but once you start doing it, you will start to generate some income. Or at least get some free stuff. Amusement Advantage even provides free tickets to theme parks, so if you can actually GET an assignment (I haven't yet), it can be worthwhile.

Now to the income question. No, I probably won't make a lot of money with just the mystery shopping. However, couple that with the officiating and substitute teaching, I will make an average journalist salary :))). Plus I get to make my own schedule. I will talk to a CPA about this I guess. I don't know if the benefit is worth it, other than getting financing for some bigger purchases (such as uniforms, which can run pretty high, it would be nice to put that on a company card if there were tax advantages).

    Thanks for the advice, everyone!

And no, I don't think there are porn shops. :(
