The not-so-subtle glee from liberals that this shooting was by a white man potentially motivated by Christianity is pretty damn sickening.

Why would an atheist shoot up a Planned Parenthood.

Nothing gleeful about it. We're just pointing out the continued hypocrisy of the right, and if you see the posts, we're using the right's own logic.

    Atheists can't be against abortion?

Sure they can. What kind of odds are you giving that he's not a fundamentalist Christian?

Oh, I think it's likely. But there's no evidence of it outside of the attack being at a PP. I just don't think it does any good to speculate motive.

If he was yelling, "Praise Jesus!" throughout, have at it, but there are no reports of that.

Fair enough. My "I'd love it if Bernie tried to make them say "Fundamentalist Christian" was pure snark in response to the GOP potboiler about trying to make Obama say "Fundamentalist Moslem". At this point little seems known but the shooter's name and the body count.

    A mitigating circumstance, you think?

I agree with the conservatives on calling Islam-inspired terrorism what it is, which goes for this attack too. As soon as his motive is determined or announced, and if he was inspired by the Bible, it should be called Christianity-inspired terrorism.

What shouldn't happen, however, is an attempt to equate this to the level and severity of Islamic terrorism. It's awful that this happened, but the "See, Christians do it too!" chorus is overplaying that hand, by a lot.

The point is many folks, and a large percentage of them conservatives, had no problem speculating and making assumptions regarding the attacks in Paris. They claimed those were fair assumptions based on history. Were you a voice of reason asking them to wait?

Of course, we were all able to make a good educated guess regarding the motives behind those attacks, but we are able to do the same with this one. I'm sorry some folks don't like having their hypocrisy pointed out to them, but that is what happened on this thread. Nobody was happy about it and you were out of line suggesting otherwise.

Atheists don't like murder any more than Christians do.
