The Col. could appreciate Bills fans during the FDR years.

What was with the Times endorsing FDR in '32, '36, and '44, but his opponent in '40?

Anybody know what that was all about?

Sounds like slang for a sex act, as in ejaculating in your partner's ear.

WW was essentially a dem, by modern standards. NYT was very, very prickly about the third-term issue, and understandably so. NYT
also recognized that the economy was still in the toilet in '40, and
since we weren't at war (yet), why not change horses?

Also, FDR tried to do that Supreme Court packing thing by trying to expand the court with nominees who supported the New Deal. It didn't go over well with the public.

So true . . . but that little incident was not a motivating force behind
NYT's lean to Wilkie, far as I can tell.

It's a shame Annie didn't mate with Dondi to start a mutant race of pupil-less children.

You had to remind me of possibly the most irritating writing/story lines in the history
    of the medium.

    Groan.

Other little known political leanings of cartoon characters.

Lucy Van Pelt - Democrat (single payer psychiatrist vists - 5 cents- plus that whole pulling away the football thing)
Linus Van Pelt - Republican (frequenty quotes scripture, "Great Pumpkin" a euphimism for next Reagan, blanket = nukes)
Lil' Abner - Tea Party (he can spell and talk the way he wants - that's true Freedom).
