    For a straight vanilla shop like AP to have "columnists" always cracked me up. First person feature writers would be a better description.

    He didn't used to. I remember him being pretty social when he was just covering college hoops. Granted that was nine years or so ago.

    He may well be a nice fellow. But seeing him eat alone fit the whole persona he's developed far better and made me chuckle.

    Sheesh, I'm delighted to eat alone at events. Might be the only 15 minutes of peace I get. Catch up on a smidge of reading, eat the dry chicken and get back to it. I don't need a powwow with four other guys.
