Literary fraud du jour or why couldn't she have just written a novel?

    How about this sentence...

    Based on a true story...

It's vague enough that you can get away with anything, rather than saying it's a memoir...

I can't speak to your experience FB, but I'd say 99% of the folks I have known in book publishing --at least in Canada--are honourable people.

However, speaking of house mold,Judith Regan is being sued by her lawyers.

There's a big difference between Nancy Reagan and Judith Regan...

  4. Judith Regan.
Slime mold is insulted by the comparison.

She's actually one of the better publishers around. She was just made to be the fall guy in the OJ book deal...

    Wow!

I grew up with that woman.

    OK, I didn't.

    You caught me.

Do I have to give the money back?

Sorry, Mizzou I disagree on both counts.

She made lots of money but she published absolute crap. I mean her list was so bad it gave good honest crap a bad name.

She signed the OJ book and it was going to be published under her imprint. Who else should have taken the fall?

    God, I remember that story.

Of course the ultimate fraud was Clifford Irving who peddled the autobiography of Howard Huges to McGraw-Hill for several million (I believe) dollars back in the early 70's.

    It was a bad one.

She fudged the story and the resume that got her the job in the first place.

    Here's the original story:
