During my dealings with Harrington in the NFL, he was a miserable bastard. Maybe Detroit did that to him, I don't know. Maybe Oregon putting a billboard of him up in Times Square did it to him.

The hopes pinned on him from day one were unrealistic. Mariucci, the would-be QB guru, threw his ass right into the fire with the full knowledge that he'd be learning the ropes with brutal horseshit surrounding talent. Harrington wasn't mature enough or polished enough as a player to be a rookie starting QB.

Don't waste a high draft pick on another quarterback (Andre Ware, Joey Harrington) unless you are going to commit to him over the long haul and be prepared to take your lumps with him like the Cowboys did with Aikman and the Colts did with Manning.

Oh, and yes, Sam Bradford is a product of the system, just like Ware and Harrington were. Nowhere close to being a starting NFL quarterback.

Every quarterback is a product of a system. That's kind of the fucking idea when you're putting an offense together. You put the ball in the hands of your best player.
