Exactly. But to be honest, I don't know if I would have talked to the media without lawyering up.

Given the amount of space in the front seat of a limo and the size of the "pass through" window he probably would have done more harm than good trying to help them get out. He'd just have been in the way.

Significant update -- limo driver's estranged wife tells Mercury News they were on the phone arguing just before the fire, and that he had the music turned up very loud so the ladies in the back couldn't hear him on the phone. (The obvious implication being he wouldn't have been able to hear them either.) Investigators hadn't talked to her but plan to do so now. The limo driver tells the paper he is no longer "authorized" to give interviews and refuses to answer any of their questions.

Wow. That's so touching. She's obviously so stricken at having distracted him at a critical time that she's gone straight to the authorities to confess. What a unselfish gesture!

    Fuel line?
    Fuel tank?
Exhaust? No telling what modifications have to be made to vehicles stretched like that. Something could have gone wrong and adding a little fuel to the situation ...

    Awful all the way around.

And Dools, transport companies? No joke. Worked for a bad rental company that would order me to rent out vehicles even though a tire was so badly cupped that handling was a bear. Or a loose door panel ... not just a clip within it ... the entire door panel. Yeah ... maintenance isn't always a priority with all of 'em. Sadly.

It's a shame someone like George Zimmerman wasn't there to hep.

He helped to pull four people out of an overturned vehicle:
