    I have to laugh at the contention that the editor's departure has nothing to do with yet another round of cutbacks. I guess it's just a coincidence. (And this editor is, I believe, very good.)

    The executive editor took a job with a university. It was also announced on the web today.

    Linda Austin will become director of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at Arizona State University, which apparently is part of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She will teach as well as direct.

    I've heard rumors about this one for a few months and naively hoped it wouldn't happen. There are, as IJAG said, a LOT of good, talented people at that paper.
