    He's the only one of these guys with an ounce of legitimate gravitas and, it seems, perspective. People should watch his show out of principle.

    This means Leno, Kimmel and Stewart will cave in very short order to keep up.

    This will also put pressure on the AMPTP to acquiesce. When the late-night shows are current and "24" is still on hiatus, a lot of folks will say WTF: the show-runners, the network suits, the fans.

    He's also the only one who owns his show. Which means that he's the only one of those guys who can make this deal, as the networks aren't and studios aren't caving in on a piecemeal basis.

    Letterman continues to get my respect for anything he does that makes him rise above the other nitwits on late night.

    MN, he may be a douche in person or in circles, but the guy is brilliant. NBC should be fucking kicking themselves in the ass again upon hearing that deal go down.
