    My guess is that it was the owners' idea. "You know how, if you're white and you go into a black-owned furniture store, everybody looks at you funny? Or if you're black and you go into a white-owned furniture store, the salespeople all suspect that you won't be able to pay for what you want? Well, the big advantage of our store is that we're post-racial! One of us is black and the other is white. Everyone, regardless of color, should feel comfortable shopping with us. Let's advertise that!"

    Now if they'd only been able to afford a better ad agency....
