Leach is definitely a hired gun, even more than most of them. Reminds me of a football version of Rick Majerus. Amazing tactician and Xs and Os guy, but all he wants to do is coach, literally. Know nothing about what Maryland expects of its coaches in terms of dealing with the alums and booster groups, but Leach rarely does any of that kind of stuff. Like Majerus, his favorite thing is to be left alone in his office with the tape machine going.

For all the publicity he brought to Texas Tech (mostly good, until the end), he did very, very little actual public-relations stuff on behalf of the school. But he won, so Tech put up with his eccentricities for a long time.

I'll bet on Al Golden. Young and energetic. Solid coach. Very intense guy when it comes to football. Has been on a very fast track and hasn't bombed in any job. Will make defense a priority. And will have the best talent to work with.

My money's on Muschamp because he'd have to try to mess up that gig.

Didn't Maryland play in an Orange Bowl within the last 10 years?

I hope Anderson makes sure Leach knows who is in charge there. Because from everything I ever read Leach thought he was bigger than everyone at TTU, which he clearly wasn't, as things turned out.

And I expect some of the guys Leach recruits are going to be real knuckleheads compared to the guys Anderson was used to at Army.

Friedgen did an amazing job there his first three years. He's now working on a seventh straight year of finishing out of the top 25.

Since the ACC went to divisions, he's finished 4-2-5-3-6-2.

Leach is going to kick all kinds of ACC ass.

What's the over/under on the number of snarky comments traded between Leach and Gary Williams over the next two years? I'd be surprised if they played nice.

Micro, Bobby Knight was bigger than everyone at Texas Tech. Leach was the crazy uncle everyone loved but knew to keep their distance from when he got too loony.

I'll take that sizable drop compared to where the program was before.
