Doesn't sound like the newsroom was affected, though I can't tell with some of the corp speak

I'm now told one sports writer was laid off - someone who had been around forever. So the newsroom was affected.

    Shit.

That sports dept is filled with top-notch reporters and writer. Just an excellent staff, from top to bottom.

And another one outside of sports, this one a tremendous reporter I worked with in Richmond. So, yeah, the newsroom IS affected.
    Ugh. Lovely business

Romenesko said there were 5 in the newsroom affected, including the photo editor.

Wonder if either of the other two (we know of one sports, one news and one photo) are in sports?

Did they do layoffs at the other papers ol' Warren bought?

I'm pretty sure they did a round at Greensboro, and of course they closed Manassas. Not sure offhand about any of the other places.
