Layoffs at Intelligencer and Bucks County Courier Times

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by Cybersport2015, Sep 9, 2017.

  1. Gatehouse Media purchased the Intelligencer and Bucks County (PA) Courier Times as of July 1 (along with several other papers). There were some cutbacks but the sports department was essentially intact until yesterday. Three full-time writers and the associate editor were let go along with five part timers. The apartment is down to one editor and three writers.
They also utilize a good number of stringers (over a half dozen) who traditionally handle a lot of their high-school coverage but for the moment the stringer budget has been frozen save for high-school football

    Jesus.

Bucks County was a pretty good suburban alternative to the Inquirer and Daily News.

Love to know the over/under on canceled subscriptions within the next month.

They cut half their full-time staff, and five part-timers??? Wow. That's some serious carnage.

Well, they had to make room in the "apartment!" Sad. Serious carnage as Doc said.
