LAT's Dwyre retiring

    This is how Dwyre writes, and how I remember him treating me. It's a post from L.A. Observed in which he recalls former LAT editor Bill Thomas after Thomas died in 2014. It also fondly brings back shades of the good old days of newspapers, and the Times in particular, and is a good read. So, I thought I'd re-post/share it here.

    The loss of Dufresne is huge. In the top three of my favorite LAT sports writers having read that section for three decades -- and that's saying something with the hall of famers who have gone through there. His college football columns were must reads -- plus he's a fellow Titan.

    There are lots of voids in the World Champion. This is a major, major loss.

    Nice column. Would have been really cool if he had tracked down Torre Fricano, but that is just an afterthought on the side.
