No one there will ever write a word about Rusty Kuntz.
Man grabbed a ring in '84 with the Tigers.

    1. "Hey, you and Tommy Lasorda. I hate Tommy Lasorda."

    2. I was at the winter meetings once and some (obviously) drunk girl came up to Lasorda looking for an autograph and stopped in front of him, kind of leaned back, pointed at him and yelled out "Hey, Slim Fast!" I guess you had to be there, but it was hilarious, especially the look on Lasorda's face.

So what's the worst thing Tommy LaFrauda ever did:

Paying for hookers or disowning his son because he was gay -- until the son was dying of AIDS and Bobby Valentine shamed LaFrauda into reconciling before his kid died?

    End of thread right there.

Can't believe it took 27 posts to point out Lasorda has always been a raging fraud.

But now Tommy's a good Catholic, and the gay thing was just too much for him to deal with. [/Catholic apologists]

While ESPN in general may be ignoring this story, Colin Cowherd has been all over this on his ESPN Radio show. He points out that it speaks volumes that Lasorda isn't suing because of this. As he says, if somebody prints that you were hiring a hooker and you didn't, you'd sue and if you don't you must be guilty.

Cowherd may be right, but what he may not have considered is Lasorda's burden of proof since he's obviously a public figure.

Obviously, I, like the rest of you, have no idea whether this is true or not. But there is one thing I do know. Lasorda is a well-known tightwad, and the thought of him spending the kind of money this hooker would have wanted kind of goes against that grain.

Like I said, he may have done this but until I get corroborating evidence, I can't go with the story. But that's just me.

That's what sends up the red flags on this. Tommy is notorious for mooching meals at favorite restaurants and then bragging about it later. Beyond being cheap, it's also an ego thing with him -- Tommy is so famous and beloved that he never has to pay.

Stories of his cheapness abound. There's the one about the shoes: Tommy comes to Anytown USA for the big sports banquet. He gets to the hotel, places a call to the nice lady who's running the banquet. "This is Tommy Lasorda. This is so embarrassing, you're not going to believe what happened. I packed in a hurry and forgot my black dress shoes. All I have is these brown loafers that I'm wearing, and I'll ruin your banquet if I show up wearing those with a tux. I have a lot of appointments today and my schedule is tight. Could you possibly have someone pick up a pair of black dress shoes, size nine, and drop them off at the hotel?"

Of course they can. And they do. Tommy pulls this scam all the time and hasn't paid for a pair of black shoes in 20 years.

Tommy can be a prick, and he's insincere, but I don't know how true this madam's story rings. Is it out of the realm of possibility that some silver-haired 60ish guy in LA borrowed his name when he called an escort service? I hardly ever use my real name with hookers.
