Believe me, I won't be mingling with the Eurotrash. Unless they're good crapshooters, in which case we'll become fast friends.

The last couple years I've put in a night or two at a Harrah's property but haven't gambled much, yet the free room offers keep coming. It can be a fluke thing, but just try to run your card through a table/machine at least a couple times to stay on places' radar.

I saw $5 and $10 tables at O'Sheas, and filled also. Filled with d-bag frat boys who think they are awesome.

O'Sheas pays 6-5 on all their tables. I made that mistake once.

It may just be during the day, then. But I SWEAR to all that is holy that the only blackjack I played was at a 3-2 table that I could find a seat at, and it was at O'Sheas. And I had to put up with douchenozzles while I waited for my "free" vodka-Red Bull to arrive before I bailed.

Well, I didn't go during the day. Usually I would be at Harrahs during the day, because that's where I usually stay. But if I am at a place like the Mandolay Bay, I would be at the pool. :)

The bartender at my former home in Ann Arbor is headed the LV this weekend... since Michigan's off, she's come up with another pool -- for $20 you'll pick a number, 00 to 36. Whomever lands on the winning number gets the $700.
She figures it's easier to do it that way that deal with all the assclowns asking her to place their individual bets.

    Come on 28!!!

Nice! That's smart on her part!

When I was there in July, I laughed at this NFL prop bet the MGM books were running for the Super Bowl. It was the Big Three (Patriots, Colts, Cowboys) vs. the field to win it all.

I thought it was funny that the Cowboys were considered part of the "Big Three" seeing as they hadn't won a playoff game in, oh, forever.

If I win, party at Slappy's next Saturday!
    (ok, party anyway...)

Do NOT stay at Circus Circus unless it's the only room left on the Strip. Riviera will do because you're not spending a lot of time in the room anyway.

There are plenty of places with $5 tables, even on weekends. The Tropicana is one, O'Shea's is another (though, like Circus Circus, this is pretty much an option only when no others are available) and often at what was the Barbary Coast.

Riviera is horrible. Place smells bad, the checkin lines will break your spirit, and you'll frequently need a cab to get to your room from the elevators. Not to mention that taken broadly, the food is contestably the worst on the Strip. I've used Circus as a last resort, but all the kids running around will drive you nuts, unless you hide in the Steak House (a very good idea, BTW) your entire stay. The Flamingo is by far the best of the alternatives mentioned, given their location, and their terrific pool . . . but
do your best at checkin not to get stuck in a room in the boonies.

Veteran Stardust fan here (and it still sucks that it is gone). I've stayed at New York, New York the last two times I've been in Vegas, but I think I'll be trying another place the next time, perhaps Monte Carlo where the pub is great, the food is good and I usually win there, too.

Stay away from Circus Circus, Imperial Palace and the former Barbary Coast.

I sure do miss the Stardust sports book. Spent many a great day there.
