This blogger is a perfect example of what most Americans find wrong with political discourse in 2008. I agree with the first commenter on that blog:

If Lampley were a conservative in his private life, the blogger would be demanding that the world forgive Lampley for his "minor transgression."

When has Lampley ever injected his personal political views into his broadcasts?

  3. And if he were an conservative, liberals would be posting the same claptrap on their blogs as this guy did on his.

If you want to jump on Lampley for his job performance, go right ahead. But his political beliefs are irrelevant.

Am I imagining things, or do 90 percent of Lyman's post start with, "If he were a (liberal or conservative) . . . " ?

  5. I think you're imagining things. (But you know that post is true.)

    I agree, sir. :)

So what do you think of his job performance? ;D

The guy lost me with his 2nd sentence:

"Couldn’t they have found someone less polarizing, like Keith Olberman?"

Really? Keith Olberman--less polarizing? Really? mmmmkay.

And I got no problem with Lamps as an announcer. They ought to match him up with Donna deVarona and let them do the beach volleyball. While drinking whiskey and vodka.

  8. He's no Jim McKay, let's put it that way.

Damn, Lyman ... I was expecting something a little more expressive. For instance:

"I'd rather use a power drill on my eardrums than listen to Lampley. For that matter, I'd prefer to use a power drill on Lampley's ear drums."

    :D

It was a joke, dude. He was being sarcastic.

Smarmy is the perfect word for Lampley. I don't want him on my TV cause he annoys the shit out of me, not because of his legal troubles and political beliefs.

    Smarmy?

Years ago (the late 1980s, early 1990s or so), Channel 2 CBS News in Los Angeles included co-anchors Jim Lampley and his then-wife, Bree " I do indeed have webbed hands" Walker, and young sportscaster Keith Olbermann.

Smarmy was the order of the day. Part of what cemented my lifelong preference for ABC News.

  12. I'm trying to be kinder and gentler. It's also hard to be snappy after someone's been using a power drill on your eardrums for the past 11 days ... :)
