  1. I think the designer culture of T-shirt and shorts is an embarrassment to professionalism.

I think the backoffice culture of cutting until the company bleeds to death is an embarrassment to professionalism.

I don't think I've ever worn a T-shirt into the office. I wore one to a press conference once because I was driving home from the gym when a trade was announced and I had to race to the practice facility.

My place has banned jeans, flip flops, etc. for about 15 years when a new editor arrived.

There are old guard veterans still bitter about it.

Doesn't bother most people the least, though.

You can buy a polo for $5-$10.

    It's not a cost thing. It's an, "I'm-too-cool-and-artsy-to-dress-professionally" thing.

Made with the finest Pakistani cotton and infused with the tears of the child laborers who made the shirts, they are both long-lasting and durable.
I wore one to work just yesterday.

  10. I don't think they're making a political statement.

Seriously - designers purposely dress like slobs for work, and it irks me.

I wear sandals 9 months a year, and unless I'm at a game or a press conference, I'm in either jeans and a T-shirt or shorts and a T-shirt. So far, it hasn't seemed to affect my copy. The drinking on the other hand ...
