Under the Least-Surprising-News category: Ground swell for the Hornets' moniker and colors going back to Charlotte is already picking up steam.

 

The best I can say is it beats the Microsoft Paint logo the Thunder has.

 

It's not a horrible logo. It's got classic colors and will age well, unlike the Gorton's Fisherman Islander or some others out there.

 

Is that meant to be a mean pelican?

Either embrace the ABA tackiness or not. This logo is on par with the Atlanta Hawk logo, which I cannot even picture in my mind right now. That's not a good quality for a logo to have.

I've lived in the South all but one year of my life, including three years in Georgia. I've met one diehard Hawks fan in my life, and that was in passing. It's my go-to example of anonymous franchises.

There was better inspiration out there.

Not a huge fan of the colour scheme, but like the design.

I also like the name. It will age well. Just as the Blue Jays, Orioles and Penguins have.

Hate it when teams go for the fad name and logo (Raptors, Mighty Ducks) or try to force something menacing/intimidating. This is good though. It has the chance to be timeless. At least in its name.

 

Should have been the Jazz in a trade and if not, the MUDDOGS.
