    Per teh Twitters.

Holmes IIRC covered UCLA for LAT, he'll be the Celtics beat writer at the Globe.

I don't know who the guy is, but anytime someone leaps between top-end papers it's still a big deal.

Congrats to Baxter. Now LAist is going to have to find a new sexiest sportswriter.

Baxter Holmes is very, very talented and was more of a sports feature writer than anything else for the Times. That said, I don't agree that "anytime someone leaps between top-end papers it's still a big deal" because it happens all the time now.

Oftentimes a guy is leaving for (insert name of website), not another paper.

I would have thought his next move would be to foggy London town.

I had the good fortune of working with Baxter when he interned at the Globe. Joe Sullivan has made a great hire in bringing him back. I look forward to reading him regularly.
