Community sports, middle school/JV sports, unedited reader sumbissions and overt cheering for the local team when it plays an outsider.   8. As a hockeywriter, it's a bit of a double-edged sword. The fact that the SCF ratings have declined to the point of a OVC test signal is a story. But it's when those ratings, and other hockey ratings, are used as the only barometer for the success of the sport -- ignoring attendance, ignoring other measures of fan interest -- that a "ratings story" really limits a true examination of the subject.
